Nathan Dudley - pictured right

How long have you worked for Holland & Holland?

I started working for Holland & Holland at the end of 1986 - 36 years and counting!

What age were you when you first started shooting and how did you get into it?

I started shooting around the age of seven and I first got into shooting through my father who was a gamekeeper.

What is the most memorable shoot you’ve ever been on?

I went on a lovely shoot in Yorkshire for my 50th with friends.

When did you know that you wanted to be an instructor and where did you train?

I first knew I wanted to pursue a career in shooting when I was in my twenties and I then trained under Chris Bird  and Ken Davies.

Do you have a favourite discipline and why?

I think my favourite discipline would be sporting clays and fitasc (Fédération Internationale de Tir aux Armes Sportives de Chasse  -  an international sport federation for sport shooting, specifically clay pigeon shooting similar to sporting clays, trap and skeet) . I love the variation of targets.

Do you have any particular highlights and greatest achievements during your career?

I think my most memorable and greatest achievement would have to be when we were shooting for the GB team in Spain for the euro championship which we won against Spain.

Do you still have anything left on your shooting bucket list?

I’d love to see my son to compete at highest level!

What advice would you give to someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?

Everyday you will come across new situation and will never stop learning from others.

What other hobbies and interests do you have outside work?

I run a couple of game shoots and I also enjoy competitive clay shooting.

If you had to choose one Holland & Holland gun, what would it be and why?

I would have to choose a 32” Sporter because it can be set up to the desired requirements and balance to make it at ease to shoot competitive clays.
